Overview
The following diagram shows the Closet's equipment and the signal flows between them:

- MXL M990, a condensor microphone for recording vocals, connects to the XLR input of Channel 1 on the Yamaha MG10/2 mixer. This microphone has been replaced with the Røde NT-1A.
- Korg N364, a synthesizer workstation, connects to the unbalanced stereo inputs of Channels 3 and 4 on the Yamaha MG10/2 mixer. It's also connected to both MIDI In and MIDI Out of Port A on the M-Audio Midisport 2x4 interface.
- Kurzweil PC-88, a MIDI controller with 88 weighted keys, connects to the unbalanced stereo inputs of Channels 5 and 6 on the Yamaha MG10/2 mixer. It's also connected to both MIDI In and MIDI Out of Port B on the M-Audio Midisport 2x4 interface.
- Kawai K4, a synthesizer, connects to the unbalanced stereo inputs of Channels 7 and 8 on the Yamaha MG10/2 mixer. It's also connected to the MIDI Out of Port C on the M-Audio Midisport 2x4 interface.
- M-Audio Delta 44, an external sound card, connects to a PCI slot on the Dell Optiplex GX280. A line-out from the card is fed to the unbalanced stereo inputs of Channels 7 and 8 on the Yamaha MG10/2 mixer.
- M-Audio Midisport 2x4, a MIDI interface, connects to a USB 2.0 port on the Dell Optiplex GX280.
- Alesis 3630, a compressor limiter effects processor, receives signal from the Aux Send 2 of the Yamaha MG10/2 mixer, then sends a processed signal back to the mixer on Aux Return 2.
- Yamaha MG10/2, a 10-channel mixer, connects the S/T Out to the Inputs 1 and 2 of the M-Audio Delta 44 sound card. The Rec Out connects to the internal sound card of the Dell Optiplex GX280. A pair of headphones may also be connected to the Headphone jack or to Aux Send 1, depending on the task.
- Dell Optiplex GX280, a desktop computer, contains software such as Cakewalk SONAR 5 Producer Edition and Propellerhead Reason 3.0.
- Cakewalk SONAR 7 Producer Edition, a digital audio workstation software program, controls MIDI and audio.
- Propellerhead Reason 3, a software synthesizer program, offers virtual instruments to complement the hardware synthesizers.
- Yamaha RH5M Headphones serve as monitors for vocal recording. These headphones have been replaced with the Sennheiser HD280.
Other gear and software not pictured:
- Ableton Live 6, a software synthesizer and digital audio workstation program, offers virtual instruments to completement the hardware synthesizers.

- Sennheiser HD280 Headphones serve as monitors for vocal recording.
